Day 3: Chaullay to Lucmabamba
After a good nights sleep we wake up with utter relief to see glorious sunshine and a spectacular view of the mountains. Condors are flying around outside and everyone has energy again, even more with double portions of everything to avoid another energy outage 😂. We put on our wet clothes ready for our long walk without too many complaints, with plastic bags on Tristan’s feet to ensure his trench-foot gets no worse!
We begin the walk through little villages and then we walk alongside a spectacular cliff-edge riverside path with incredible jungle-filled mountains (huge granite karsts) all around us. As we get further towards Lucmabamba, the jungle changes to little fincas growing coffee, avocado, cocoa, banana etc and it is truly a little paradise within the mountains.
After many hours of walking, we arrive at our lovely little coffee plantation accommodation where we are warmly greeted by a lovely Peruvian family. They kindly give us a tour of their property, including some tips re the snake population around these parts! Seb also manages to find a football pitch, what more could we all want and what a contrast to yesterday. We all feel very well looked after by the family and enjoy great coffee, food, games, comfortable beds, hot water and even a towel. What a day, phew!

More fabulous pictures and always as good, or even better, than the last. And experiences none of you will ever forget. You should be at Machu Picchu by now; hope you were not drowned by the number of tourists. So sad for you that the journey is coming to an end so enjoy every moment. PS: We will provide you with eggs on your return! 8 posh hens doing well but no Geoffrey yet.
