Mexico City
We originally thought we would immerse our children slowly into this adventure but oh no, let’s just go full throttle! We arrived in Mexico City at 6AM but it’s definitely not quiet. The usual noise of a city but with a constant hoot of the horn, dogs barking, sirens sirening(!) and the general kerfuffle of Mexicans opening up their endless Taco stands.
We have spent 5 days now in the city and it’s definitely a positive start. The city is very spread out so not the easiest to see all the sites, but that’s made us get our big-family pants on π and travel like the locals on the Metro, buses etc. We’ve visited museums (much to the boys disgust as Johnny likes to read every plaque available), beautiful parks, city squares, enourmous football stadiums (thanks Seb) ancient ruins and generally walked the streets of Mexico City until our shoes have worn holes in! We have stayed in a fab area where there are cafes and restaurants a plenty, and very upmarket ones at that, but there is a reminder of the “old” Mexico at every street corner throughout the city with police patrolling the streets everywhere. They are definitely changing things for the better and we’ve not felt unsafe here at all. In fact the local people have been nothing but hospitable with endless smiles for us, especially when eating spicy tacos!
Adios Ciudad de Mexico, you’ve been great.
Awesome work team!
ReplyDeleteYeah - great to hear from you. Sounds perfect to be enjoying tacos in cool cafes. Have the kids had tequila or Mezcal yet?
DeleteBrilliant photos, love these so please keep them coming! I hope John's shoes have no 'extra' holes in them (or is he wearing his 'make me taller' flipflops?). It certainly looks colourful, enjoy all the tacos. Where to next?
